A contractor has been selected to build a new, and much bigger, building for the Kamloops SPCA.
Kamloops Interim Branch Manager Alyssa Kyllo says now that a contractor has been selected the hope is to get shovels in the ground as quickly as possible.
“This project has been under developmemnt or planning stages for quite some time now. The next makor milestone was selecting a contractor to complete the project. We put it out to tender back in November. We were just waiting for our board of directors at our provincial office to meet and approve our recommendations. They have selected the A&T Project Developments, which is a local contractor here in Kamloops.”
Kyllo says the new building is desperately needed noting they cared for more than 1,500 abused, neglected, and injured injured animals last year.
The new 10,500 sqare foot facility will cost $6.5 million.
