It’s Superbowl Sunday, and football fans are gearing up to not only watch the Patriots and Eagles throw down…but bet on it.
Doug Cheng with the BC Lottery Corporation, says they have over 400 different ways to bet on the game.
“You can bet on who will win the game, who is going to be the MVP, plot bets, like passing yards. But of course the Superbowl is more than just a sporting event, there’s also that spectacle we call the Halftime show, so we have novelty bets surrounding the Halftime show as well.”
Cheng says, the halftime bets are usually the most interesting because they depend on who performs each year.
“This time around, it’s Justin Timberlake, so the bets we’re offering around that will reflect on his persona, and his musical act.”
Cheng says, most of the betting activity comes closer to game time, and they do offer live betting.
Cheng says, the Patriots are heavily favoured to come out as repeat winners.
“So if you’re talking about who would have the biggest payout if they were to win the game, it’d be the Eagles, because they’re the underdog.”
Cheng adds, the betting is open to anyone in BC 19 years and older, and there is information on how to bet online at PlayNow.com, and Sports Action.
