Kamloops Search and Rescue are expecting another busy Family Day weekend.
KSAR Manager, Alan Hobler says, they’re gearing up for multiple call outs this weekend.
“Especially with the Avalanche hazard rating so high, that kind of adds an extra level of concern for us. It makes it more difficult, going into potential avalanche terrain. There’s a lot more steps we have to go through.”
Hobler says, they’ve been called out on both the Family Day weekends so far, and currently their number of call outs is on par with what they had last year.
“It is a busy time for us. I think a lot of people are utilizing Family Day, and actually taking their families out. Unfortunately, if you’re not prepared and haven’t taken the right preparations, you could get into trouble.”
Hobler adds, there isn’t one activity that ends up requiring their services, however there has been an increase in calls for people snowmobiling, and 4 by 4-ing.
