Big changes coming to the management structure at Kamloops City Hall, following the departure of Corporate Services Director Dave Duckworth, who won’t be replaced.
Chief Administrative Officer Dave Trawin says, this will streamline existing departments into four areas: Civic Operations; Community and Protective Services; Development, Engineering, and Sustainability; and Corporate Services.
“The elimination of Dave Duckworth position as well as the E-A position will save 325 thousand dollars. That said we probably know when you do a restructure if past history in Kamloops and other places there will be some unforeseen type of issues where we may need more resources.”
Trawin asked Council to hold two management positions in the budget just in case.
“At a lower pay rate until we can figure out what’s going on. Any replacement of these positions would have to come back to council. In addition, we have had to do other construction work around moving people around as we have grown anyway.”
Duckworth’s Corporate Services Department is being eliminated.
