One Kamloops Councillor is looking for further information on the annual air quality monitoring report from the Domtar Pulp Mill.
Tina Lange pointed to one part of the annual correspondence pointing to possibly better air quality following a capital expenditure.
Quoting from the report, Lange says, Domtar’s air permit was amended in 2017 for safety reasons.
“The permanent elimination of sulphur dioxide from the Domtar facility in 2018. They are putting in a plant air emission scrubber which will begin in May, and will effectively control emissions without the use of sulphur dioxide.”
Lange says, you could draw conclusions.
“When I read that, I think well, that means we are getting rid of the stink, but I could be so far wrong.”
Council will invite a representative from the company to address the findings in the report.
