It is time for cooler heads to prevail.
The leader of the BC Liberal Party wants the pipeline battle between British Columbia and Alberta to be defused.
Speaking Friday on Inside #bcpoli on NL Andrew Wilkinson says it is very distressing to hear such a belligerent threat from Alberta Premier Rachel Notley to turn off the Western flow of gas and oil.
Wilkinson says the dispute is unnecessary and was triggered by BC Premier John Horgan and his Environment minister George Heyman.
“Given where it is right now I am hoping that the federal senior officials, and possibly elected officials, are on the phone to Alberta and Victoria right now saying this is not going to be in anybody’s interests at the end of the day. It is unfortunate we have to have step in a be a mediator in this squabble between these two NDP governments but I am hoping that is what they are doing.”
He says threats by the Horgan government to try and limit the flow of raw bitumen through the province triggering this dispute were unconstitutional.
