Its the next step in the proposed development of a Civic/First Nations cultural centre at the old Stuart Wood School in downtown Kamloops.
Chief Administrative officer David Trawin says the Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc First Nation and members of council will tour the century old building to determine its potential use.
“Both groups want to see as part of a visioning session, what the building looks like. What space there is, what space we may have to add on to, and what work needs to be done and once we get a good idea on it after a walk through, then do a visioning session on what the facility could look like.”
Trawin says, the big issue will be funding and where to get it.
“You know the amount of funding will be depending on what the concept plan looks like and its kind of early early stages.”
The NDP government has told the band if it agrees to a project like this it will not cede its aboriginal title and rights to the property.
