Two positive results to report after the City of Kamloops purchased the old Owl Road landfill two years ago for $9 million.
In a report to council Civic Operations Director Jen Fretz says the conversion to the Resource Recovery Centre has resulted in nearly $3 million in revenue for 2016 and 2017.
“We are operating on the revenue positive side. So everything is cash positive, which is as we suggested it would be in our business case to council. We are also showing some very good results with respect to diversion of material.”
Fretz didn’t have the specific numbers for the reductions in material being diverted from the landfill.
