B.C Wildfire Service giving a heads up to those in the Barriere and Chu Chua area today.
Fire Information Officer, Brenna Ward says depending on the weather, you might see some smoke as a 27 hectare prescribed burn gets underway in the Chu Chua community today until May 14th.
“Well the purpose of this particular controlled burn, it is part of our fuel management strategy, so it’s to reduce wildfire risks in and around the Chu Chua community.”
Speaking of burns, with the weather heating up, the B.C Wildfire Service is reminding just how dangerous open burns can be.

“This time of year, majority of our fires are human caused, from open burns getting away, so we are reminding people just to be extra cautious.”
