A man who was killed when a tractor toppled over on its operator is the province’s first flood related death.
Residents of Cherry Creek have been sandbagging and trying to shore up the riverbank for several days.
With homes and garages periodically flooding, the man was helping move sandbags with a tractor, according to Victoria Braun, who has been helping out in the community since the weekend.
“I was there with him and he was – we were putting sandbags in his tractor and he was driving it down to the bottom of the property.”
Braun says, she left with her three-year-old just before the accident.
The B.C Coroner’s Service and the RCMP are investigating what caused the tractor to flip.
