The City of Kamloops has taken the first step in developing a long term plan to get rid of bio-solids.
Utility Services Manager Greg Wightman says, a new committee met for the first time this week .
“We’re looking at bio-solid management options from around the world. And the pre-screening was just a means of saying, well we’ve got cold weather for example, so if there’s a technology in a warm weather climate around the world that we’d like to look at and evaluate, but the reality is that its just not going to work here because of our weather, then lets not evaluate it. So it was just a real pre-screening of some of the worldwide technologies.”
The committee’s next steps will be to evaluate the economic, environmental, and social impact of any solutions.
