People and businesses are beginning to respond to the appeals for sandbagging help in Cherry Creek.
The four Save-On Foods stores in the Kamloops area are the latest to step up.
Ryan Ogden manages the Valleyview location. He heard of the need for help on the radio on his way into work and picked up the phone.
“I contacted the other four store managers in town and just said hey Cherry Creek needs help. They’re looking for lots of people and they’re looking for water and food. We could definitely help with the water and food piece are you guys in? There was no hesitation from any of the store managers.”
Water and supplies have also come in from Costco and Kam Lake View Meats.
The Kamloops Women’s Rugby Club came out to help sandbag Thursday according to Victoria Braun – who’s parents live in Cherry Creek. She has been helping out since the weekend.
“The need right now is just bodies. Men, women, teenagers. We need everybody to come and just fill sandbags, tie sandbags and load them into trucks and drop them off at various houses on the creek.”
Braun says residents are hoping the weekend brings more bodies.
