Kamloops Council is being asked to approve a new agreement between the Blazers and the city to increase seating capacity by 64 at the Sandman Centre.
Parks and Civic Facilities Manager Jeff Putnam says, the gondola section in the upper part of the south side of the arena will be replaced with private balcony seating.
Putnam says 14 of the 16 new seating arrangements have already been sold at six thousand dollars a pop, which creates additional revenue for both.
“The Blazers have proposed a partnership. they will pay for the improvements and the cost is 300 thousand dollars and in return what it will be is a great amenity for Sandman Centre. There are going to be 16 separate tables with four chairs per table, kind of bistro style table over the ice that will receive food and beverage service directly to the table.”
The issue to be decided by Kamloops city council tomorrow.
