Kamloops may escape serious flooding this year.
The head of the River Forecasting Centre David Campbell says, the levels of the North and South Thompson Rivers should rise by a half a metre this week.
When will the North Thompson reach its peak,
“The North Thompson this weekend looks like the critical period for the peaking it might get above where we have been at in the last week or it might not”
As for the South?
“South Thompson we expect to continue to rise for at least another week or ten days then it switches to the wildcard of the rainfall which could push the levels up and it could push the timing back in all those situations. But as the outlook is right now we expect it to be the next week to ten days.”
A high streamflow advisory has been issued for the South Thompson.
