If you’re curious about whether the water you’re drinking is safe, Interior Health now has a way to check online.
Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Trevor Corneil says, they found that most methods of informing people of whether water is safe to drink were not as good as they could be, leading to the development of their real-time water advisory map.
“So this really is nice because it’s accessible to those who live in municipal areas, but also those in rural and remote areas who may be on a very small system.”
Corneil says the map is in real-time.
“As soon as we hear from a water purveyor, or a licensed water supplier that there is an issue with their water, they have to report it to us. We put that into a database for our records, but that data is immediately pushed into the web platform. So it’s as live as we hear the information.”
