Last night’s weather proved useful for B.C Wildfire Service crews battling the Allie Lake and Xusum Creek wildfires.
Information Officer Jody Lucius says the still burning, Allie Lake fire is now 100 per cent contained.
“They are continuing to work on fortifying hand and machine guard that exists around the fire, they’re also working on cooling any hot spots and exist within the perimetre, and are mopping up areas around the fire’s edge.”
She adds, while evacuation orders have been removed, area restrictions are still in place for safety reasons.
That blaze- believed to be human caused.
Meanwhile, Information Officer Marla Catherall says the 500 hectare Xusum Creek blaze is still out of control, but 35 per cent contained.
“Cooler temperature and precipitation in some areas of the Kamloops Fire Centre definitely helped out.”
112 personnel are working on that fire, with heavy equipment, and 2 helicopters.
