A Kamloops Councillor who campaigned in previous proportional representation campaigns in the province likes what he is seeing of this latest referendum campaign.
Arjun Singh was asked if the electoral reform campaign details and a two question ballot are acceptable or not..
“It does pass muster. I think obviously there are things that we all can do and want to see done differently. Different people want to see different things. I think in terms of the acxtual government announcement it was good. We have a great opportunity here to have a system that is more collaborative that represents more voices in the legislature.”
Singh says five month campaign is also an adequate amount of time for voters to get their head around the three proportional representation systems tabled and to encourage a good turn out.
He says proportional representation is a good system allowing for a more collaborative government and works well in many countries around the world like Denmark and Norway.
