B.C Wildfire Service monitoring the Xusum Creek fire outside of Lillooet to see what next steps might have to be taken.
Fire Information Officer Marla Catherall says the 483 hectare blaze is 100% contained at the bottom, but crews aren’t able to get up to the top part to tackle the fire.
“The B.C Wildfire Service has 40 personnel and 1 helicopter on site. The rain has definitely been beneficial. Hopefully the weather stays a little bit cooler for the next little while.”
Catherall adding, the blaze is still out of control, but they are using a monitored response.
Meaning if the fire gets past certain trigger points, then they’ll use a counter burn to get rid of any potential fuel, effectively starving it out.
