By a vote of five to four Kamloops council will explore releasing its weekly agenda on Thursday instead of Friday.
A motion from Councillor Denis Walsh for a Wednesday date was defeated.
Councillor Arjun Singh says an earlier release date gives people a better chance to inform themselves.
“I’m hoping that staff can make this happen, that would be my strong hope is that we don’t come back with a bunch of reasons why we cant do it.”
Walsh says, its just common sense not rocket science and that’s why he said no and wanted to the release date mid week.
“We don’t inform our citizens about our council meetings. This is about engaging and informing the community. You know an early released agenda a minimum three or four business days would greatly benefit the public and the local media by allowing more time to become aware of the topics and issues.”
Walsh says, the extra day would have allow him to become more informed and prepare for council meetings better.
