A new K to 12 school at Sun Peaks is now on the Kamloops School District’s capital wish list.
Board Chair Meghan Wade says, there has been one change at number five on the priority list, a new 16.5 million dollar school at the resort municipality.
“We are now pushing in the elementary school. We have K to 7 up there functioning we have close to 100 students.”
Resort Municipality Mayor Al Raine says, the facility is badly required.
“There are very expensive homes but I think people misunderstand the situation in Sun Peaks. Most of the children going to the school are children of the families that live and work in Sun Peaks. There is this image that the school is servicing a bunch of elite people.”
Elementary kids currently attend school at the top of the platter lift while secondary students are housed next to the Health Centre.
