It’s another way to keep track of your bus in Kamloops.
BC Transit has installed digital real-time arrival information signs at all three bus exchanges.
Spokesperson Shelene McConnell says this is a valuable tool for transit users.
“What you are seeing when you are waiting at the bus stop, you are seeing the time for the buses arriving,” she said. “That is all connected to our Next Ride real-time bus location technology.”
“So what that does is it shows the number of your bus and the actual time it is going to be arriving. That’s not the time that’s in the schedule, that’s the actual real time.”
She notes there were also some interior features rolled out on the bus itself.
“Part of that is your bus stop will be scrolled up at the front of the bus, so you can see them visually,” added McConnell. “They’re also automatically announced as you approach a stop.”
BC Transit introduced the NextRide smartphone app this past summer.
