For a third straight day, there’s a snowfall warning in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope.
Environment Canada forecaster Doug Lundquist says the Coq will see seven to 15 centimeters of snow today and tonight.
This comes after more than a foot of snow fell on the highway over the past two days.
“It’s a crazy string of systems, one after the other, coming on the B.C. coast and crossing the Interior. For us down in the valleys it looks great, but up in the mountain terrain it’s a different story.”
Lundquist says the Rogers Pass meanwhile will see 20 to 30 centimetres by late on Friday.
He says the best time to travel would be tomorrow, as the snow is expected to change.
“It may be warm enough that it’ll come down as rain at the Coquihalla Summit, but do check just to make sure that it isn’t still snow.”
Environment Canada has also issued wind warnings for the Cariboo and Chilcotin, with winds expected to reach gusts of 80 kilometers per hour on tomorrow afternoon before diminishing in the evening.
