-- The Kamloops Blazers meet the Chilliwack Bruins in Mission tonight for their second WHL exhibition game.
-- The Thompson Blazers are hosting an icebreaker tournament this weekend at the Art Holding Memorial Arena in Chase--they meet the Okanagan Rockets tonight at 7.
-- The Kamloops Storm meet Princeton tonight at 7 in an exhibition game at the Sports Centre.
-- Thousands of fans turned out today at a suburban Montreal mall to see goaltender Jaroslav Halak for his farewell appearance.
-- The Calgary Stampeders traded offensive lineman Jesse Newman to the BC Lions for two draft picks.
-- The Arizona Cardinals have released quarterback and 2004 Heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart, ending a rocky stint with the team that began with fanfare as he was drafted 10th overall in 2006. Leinart played in 29 games with 17 starts for Arizona, and threw for 3,893 yards with 14 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
-- The Toronto Blue Jays dropped their second straight in New York, a 7-5 loss to the Yankees this afternoon.
-- Manny Ramirez singled twice in his return to Fenway Park and John Danks pitched seven solid innings, leading the Chicago White Sox to a 3-1 win over the Boston Red Sox in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.
-- Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki kept up her dominant run at the U-S Open by beating Chan Yung-Jan of Taiwan 6-1, 6-0 in the third round today. Meanwhile fourth-seed Jelena Jankovic was upset by 31st-seeded Kaia Kanepi.
-- Brandt Snedeker and Jason Day are tied at 12-under-par after two rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship. They've got a one-shot lead over FedEx Cup leader Matt Kuchar and Charley Hoffman. Calgary's Stephen Ames shot a 68 to move up to 19th, five shots back. Tiger Woods is seven back and tied for 29th.
