As the province announces a new $35 million school in nearby Lake Country the Kamloops Thompson School District continues to wait…
“I hope that in the near future we will get a similar announcement.”
School Board Chair Meghan Wade says with classrooms busting at seams and hundreds of new students pouring into the district they have impressed upon the province the need.
Wade says it has been 16 long years since a provincial government ponied up capital funding to build a new school in Kamloops.
“All investment in education in British Columbia is valuable. We remain hopeful that the government continues to see and recognize the need in SD 73. A similar announcement that will address our priorities will come in the near future.”
She says without a capital announcement soon the district will have to make hard decisions to manage its burgeoning student population, a direct contrast to its lack of classroom space.
