Representatives from the B.C government concluded their Asia trip, and the Kamloops skiing industry may see a boost from that.
Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Lisa Beare says, her visit to China with Premier John Horgan was focused on promoting B.C’s tourism industry.
“In Beijing we hosted a ski luncheon, and the Premier and myself were able to speak with around 140 tourism operators, vendors, and marketing organizations, to promote skiing in B.C as it is a growing market in China.”
Beare says, Sun Peaks was highlighted in those talks.
“I would anticipate increased visiting to areas like Sun Peaks, as China will be hosting the Winter Olympics in the coming years. So skiing, and winter sports in general have become an increasingly interesting sport for Chinese tourists.”
Beare adds, the training opportunities for winter sports will also be a big draw for visitors from China.
