It was a disappointing finish to the campaign and a disappointing night for the BC Liberal leadership candidate from Kamloops South.
Todd Stone was fourth after the first ballot and knocked out of the race entirely by the third.
Stone was asked if the fake memberships controversy of the last week damaged his leadership chances.
“No, I don’t believe so. This whole memberships issue, you know, there were over 1300 memberships, none of those memberships actually came into play. Nobody voted. We did very, very strongly on the first ballot, we were about where we thought we would be. We thought we would have a bit more growth potential beyond that first ballot, and it just wasn’t meant to be.”
Stone says he is proud of his team and he played by the rules. Adding, he will now roll up his sleeves and help new leader Andrew Wilkinson topple the NDP government.
