Kamloops wants your input on affordable housing.
The city will be hosting a series of meetings to help formulate an affordable housing strategy.
“We’re not looking at very specific projects that might come to the community, but rather, focusing on our fiscal community plan goals of housing affordability, housing diversity, and housing for vulnerable people. We want to talk to the community about the local government’s role in achieving those goals.”
Social and Community Development Supervisor Jen Casorso says, there is one caveat.
“As a municipal government, we’re not in the role of being an operator or owner of housing, that’s a very distinct level of responsibility to the province and federal governments. So it’ll be one, providing information to the community about those roles, and then gathering their feedback on if that’s the role they expect us to have.”
The meetings will take place over the next month.
