The Interior Health Authority is urging Kamloops residents to be extra cautions when consuming drugs.
Based on preliminary data from the B.C Coroners Service, there were six suspected illicit drug overdose deaths in a 10-day period in the Kamloops area earlier this month.
B.C Coroners Service Spokesman, Andy Watson,
“This is a major spike in what we’ve seen from 2017, and even previous years. To see 6 suspected illicit drug overdose deaths over a 10 day period in Kamloops, obviously creates the need for us to have a discussion with Interior Health, and just remind people that the drug supply right now is not safe, and you know, continues to be at risk of toxicity.”
There have been a number of these alerts around the province.
