The City of Kamloops has hired a contractor to conduct repairs to the footing and rotunda of the Riverside Park pier starting Wednesday.
Capital Projects Supervisor Matt Kachel says over time, the foundation of the retaining wall beneath the pier has deteriorated and requires immediate repairs to make it safe for public use.
Kachel says while river levels are low to allow access, crews will install riprap to protect the infrastructure.
“Around 50 thousand for the repair. We need to be done by the end of this month so March 31st because that is when our permits expire for working in the water around the bank there.”
Two excavators will be on site, with tandem dump trucks accessing the riverbank via the park.
Work will be conducted during the day, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of some weekend work.
