B.C was the best in the nation last year.
Receipts from restaurants and drinking places in BC last year soared 7.7 per cent to 11 billion dollars from 2016 according to the latest figures from Statistics Canada.
“A lot of tourism is behind those numbers.”
The President of the BC Restaurant and Food Services Association, Ian Tostenson says the biggest reason is the provinces booming economy.
“We see people using restaurants daily as part of their lifestyle, and the restaurant industry has done a great job of keeping that value proposition in front of the consumers, so its pretty hard not to utilize a restaurant because their lifestyles are so incredibly diverse and busy everyday.”
Saskatchewan was the only jurisdiction that saw a decrease in receipts for 2017, about one per cent less.
