At the BC Teachers Federation AGM this week the Kamloops Thompson Teachers Association received some assurances from this province’s education minister.
KTTA President Amanda Jensen says they had previously reached out to Rob Fleming by phone to arrange a meeting to discuss the Kamloops School District’s desperate need for capital dollars.
“He was just following back to let us know that he did receive our phone call that he will be speaking to us about that. The question actually just came from the budget and we wanted to know specifically what would be coming to Kamloops. So the minister is going to be meeting with us hopefully very very soon to shed light on what life will look like in SD 73 within the next few months.”
Jensen says she will be using blunt language to underscore to the minister how badly this district needs new and expanded schools.
The Kamloops School District is looking for a new elementary school and significant expansions to Valleyview and South Kamloops Secondary in order to deal with a student crunch.
