The YMCA/YWCA will soon be offering a new program targeting mental health for teens in Kamloops.
Mental Health Programs Manager, Jenna Nickle says the new Mind Fit program came about due to a demand for a program targeting the 13-19 age group.
“The first hour of the program is with a youth clinician. And that youth clinician will lead them through different topics on mental health, and coping strategies, and way to manage feelings or depression or anxiety. And then the second hour, we help them use physical activity as a tool to manage and cope with feelings of depression and anxiety.”
Nickle says the 10 week program starting in April is free, and more information can be found by emailing her at jenna.nickle@kamloopsy.ca.
