Construction is starting a week Monday on the Lansdowne Street improvement project in Kamloops.
Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says the south side of Lansdowne Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue is going to be upgraded.
He says there will be new curb extensions, improved street lighting, sidewalk improvements and landscaping all part of the project to create a safer, more pedestrian-friendly streetscape along Lansdowne Street.
“We’ve had a downtown beautification plan for a while, but it is more than just beautification, there’s safety improvements, pedestrian improvements. It is tying in to, as well, the public art. We’re tying in that whole project, so we’re working on that whole block.
The project also includes the replacement of water surface casings and catch basins, and repaving of the roadway.
Construction should be complete by June.
