As the legislature resumes sitting today the leader of the opposition Liberals says the government has so far this session “ragged the puck.”
Andrew Wilkinson says the NDP are disorganized and its showing by a lackluster pace in tabling legislation this sitting with a budget, Throne Speech, and “minor legislation” passed so far.
“And yet we have a government that is misplacing its energies by focusing on marijuana rather than on basic services for British Columbians.”
But doesn’t the province have a responsibility to have legislation passed to set the rules and guideline for legal cannabis?
“There is but at the same time this something that has been anticipated for more than a year. It is the sort of thing where if the legislation can be handed around at a reasonably early date we can have a good look at it and figure whether it needs to have extensive debate or not. We have seen nothing from them.”
Wilkinson says the government’s challenge in the remainder of this sitting is “to do something that is actually useful to British Columbians.”
