City Hall may have to push back the time period for a complete reconstruction of West Victoria Street.
The section of West Victoria Street between Overlanders Bridge and 1st Avenue will require major repairs in the next couple of years.
City of Kamloops Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell says the city may have to wait until 2021 to start the two year project, noting that section of road was built in 1907.
“We need to work closely with BC Hydro they have some pretty major upgrades that they want to plan as well so its just a matter of bringing everything together and that will dictate whether we push the project out to 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 because its a two year project.”
Crundwell says the city has not received any word back from the federal government about a grant to help pay part of the $10 million cost.
