Domtar plans to spend more money to cut down emissions from its Kamloops pulp mill.
Environmental Manager Kristin Danglemaier says there has been a 70% reduction in odour discharge over the past seven years.
Danglemaier announced the money for upgrades will be spent this year for more upgrades.
“In May of this year we are going to be spending 2.5 million dollars to upgrade and improve the environmental control equipment while simultaneous eliminating the purchase and use and sulphur dioxide. Sulphur Dioxide is what we feel is the most hazardous chemical that we use at the pulp mill.”
The new equipment will mean more odour reductions at Domtar.
