The City of Kamloops has completed testing after a sewage leak into the South Thompson River in Dallas determined no impact on drinking water quality.
Building and Engineering Development Manager Jason Dixon says crews completed repairs over the last several days and testing has shown there are no more leaks.
Dixon says the leak came from a 60 unit condo development but exactly why the sewage outfall was connected to the sewer main is unknown
“It will part of our follow up with the property owner to try and understand the exact nature of the cross connection. How much of the building was affected, that kind of stuff. At this point we are just happy its repaired. We are happy city crews were able to find it last week and we have got things corrected. But there will be still be follow up to do to identify the source magnitude all that.”
The city will keep an eye on the situation to ensure it does not happen again.
