Food collectors with the Kamloops Rotary Spring Food Drive will be in action today.
Food Bank Executive Director Bernadette Siracky says this year is a bit different, as they transition out of using those familiar, yellow plastic bags.
“This time around, we’ve also had a flyer delivered to everybody’s home, actually to their mail box. And asking them to attach that to any bag, box or bin that they already have at home, and put it on their door step.”
Siracky adds, this year’s goal is 75,000 pounds of food, about 15,000 pounds more than they’ve ever collected before.
Bags need to be out by 9 o clock this morning, and volunteers can drop by 171 Wilson Street around 11 a.m today.
