Kamloops RCMP will be using technology to combat bike theft.
Corporal Jodi Shelkie says, stolen bikes are a problem everywhere, with Kamloops being no exception.
“So what we’ve inviting people to do is to download the 529 Garage app on their phone.”
Shelkie says the app works with a photo of the bike, and a serial number on a tamper proof sticker, so police can track your bicycle if it is stolen.
“Just something you know, with a bicycle, you’re riding downtown, you whip into a store for a few minutes, you come out, and your bike is gone. So, it’s really helpful to have that information, serial number and picture of your bike, so that we can pursue, first of all, if its stolen, and then if a bike is turned in we know who to return it to.”
Shelkie adding, RCMP will be offering the tamper proof stickers for free throughout the summer.
