A booming Kamloops construction market, but could it mean another record year?
City Hall reports during the first four months of this year building permits totaled 77 million dollars up from only 32 million for the same time period.
Building and Engineering Development Manager Jason Dixon says, the residential building sector accounted for more than half that number at 40 million dollars.
“The big story month to month is the increase in commercial 6 million in April of 2017 to 17.2 million in 2018 and that was the result of some big projects, one is the UHAUL on Kingston and the SPCA project on Tranquille.”
There have been 236 multi and single family permits issued compared to only 86 in 2017, that’s a hike of nearly 250 per cent. Last year there were nearly 225 million dollars in values a new high watermark.
