Kamloops has entered the next phase of its flood response plan.
Utility Services Manager Greg Wightman says staff are now monitoring all creeks and streams around the clock after the waters in Campbell Creek rose considerably Monday.
Wightman expects the situation to improve over the week.
“We are monitoring all of our kind of smaller creeks, that’s our real area of concern right now. None of the other ones are causing much concern. We are just continuing to monitor them and I suppose the main rivers we actually look like we are going to get a bit of a reprieve here, they are calling for a bit of a decline in the levels coming after this weekend. So we saw about a half metre rise at the Overlander Bridge over the course of the weekend. But it looks like things may actually improve a little bit for us heading into next week.”
Barnhartvale Road remains closed due to flooding.
A detour is available via Blackwell Road.
