Kamloops city council has voted six to one, on a new bylaw governing where pot shops can locate.
The decision, made after a marathon four hour public hearing, and council did approve one amendment to allow dispensaries within 100 metres from each other, from the previous distance of 150.
Speaking on the Jim Harrison Show, Mayor Ken Christian, who didn’t attend the hearing says, its still early in the process.
“I think the retail marketplace will sort itself out after this is a legal product. Its a bit of a novelty, in terms of our access to recreational marijuana, there will be a lot of people wanting to get into the business in the initial stages, after they find out what works, and what doesn’t, I suspect they will thin out.”
A number concerns were expressed during the public hearing.
