More hybrid cars, means more copper mines.
Mining Association of B.C giving an update on the province’s mining situation to the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce.
Appearing on the Jim Harrison Show today, President and CEO of the MABC, Bryan Cox says, his address to the Chamber will have a focus on growing copper needs.
“In fact, it takes up to 4 times more copper to build an electric car than it does in a combustion motor. They’re thinking there’s going to be about 20 million electric cars on the road by 2020, 70 million by 2025, so we’re talking a huge transition that we’re making. We’re going to need a lot more copper.”
Cox adding, while the KGHM Ajax Copper Mine was turned down, with the kinds of resources that are in the area, Kamloops will continue to be a huge centre for mining.
