A new GPS tracking system for the Kamloops vehicle fleet is proving to be a success.
Public Works Director Jen Fretz for 2017 the figures have now been tabled.
“We have crunched the numbers and we have saved approximately 100 thousand litres of fuel. So that’s a combination of gas and diesel.”
Has the program been a success?
“I would say the program is definitely going well, better than we expected this early on. I suspect we will see more significant savings as we continue to ramp up the program.”
Fretz says if you are by yourself working somewhere, the city has the ability to check on you to make sure you are doing okay.
There are more than 400 vehicles in the city fleet.
