As part of the coming update to the Downtown Plan, city of Kamloops has two events coming up this week.
Community Planning and Sustainability Manager Jason Locke says, Design Downtown week features events to gather feedback, and provide information to the public.
“So June 13th, Design Downtown, a public lecture on planning and urban design, from 7-9 p.m at the Paramount Theatre. And June 16th from 2-5 p.m, a community open house at Hotel 540 Rivers Room.”
He says, they’ve heard a few key themes from residents on what downtown should have.He says, they’ve heard a few key themes from residents on what downtown should have.
“One is about pedestrian only streets, so closing off part of Victoria Street to vehicles so its a pedestrian only street. Some other ideas have been related to housing, so build more affordable housing. Transportation mobility we heard some comments around, ensure that there’s enough parking for workers and visitors.”
The Downtown Plan is expected to be brought to council by early 2019.
