The Sun Peaks Resort Municipality is taking the next step in efforts to make it a year round destination.
Mayor Al Raine says a request for proposals has been issued for the new seven million dollar Sun Peaks Centre.
“People kind of always say, well when the ski season is over you have the mud season at Sun Peaks. I mean, why would somebody go up in the mud season.”
Raine says its important to diversify the economy instead of only focus on the winter season.
“Once we have the roof over the rink we have a large area where we could do trade shows dance competitions, indoors where its dry. We would love to be able to do music concerts so we can bring in bigger name artists and people into the resort.”
The money came in the form of a grant from the federal government.
