The number of homeless in Kamloops has increased substantially.
Last year’s count found 100 homeless in the city, with the most recent survey released Friday saying 190 homeless people were found on Kamloops streets.
Councillor Donovan Cavers says the city needs more affordable housing.
“We need all sorts of different types of housing. We need emergency shelters. We need affordable rental. We need affordable homes for purchase. So across the whole spectrum.”
While the final youth homeless count data will be released “soon” one of the count organizers has already confirmed to NL the number of homeless kids in Kamloops has increased.
