The cost of building a home in Kamloops keep rising.
The President of the Kamloops Chapter of the Canadian Home Builders Association Rob Lemire says, the price of building lots has soared.
Lemire says, the average cost has jumped to 200 thousand dollars today from 100 thousand a few years ago.
“At the end of the day, our population is growing in Kamloops, and in B.C, and Canada, and will continue to do so. At the end of the day if we don’t open up more property or rezone or allow rezoning we won’t have the lots to open up and sell, therefore the price goes up.”
Lemire also says the cost of demolishing a home is skyrocketing, pointing out in Saskatchewan, its about seven thousand dollars, and in Kamloops it could reach 50 to 100 thousand dollars.
