TRU graduate students will now have access to a new 180 thousand dollar scholarship fund.
Associate Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Will Garrett-Petts says it’s the first time they’ve received provincial funding for graduate scholarships.
“We’re defining ourselves increasingly as a open access research university. And to have research informed teaching at the core is incredibly important, and to have this provincial investment in our graduate programs is simply excellent.”
Garrett-Petts says the money will be research focused in science, technology, engineering and mathematics along with business administration, so it’s a well rounded investment.
The twelve 15 thousand dollar awards are part of a larger plan to increase support for the technology sector.
TRU currently offers six graduate degree programs.
