A senior official with Air Canada is hoping the direct flight from Kamloops to Toronto is successful, the comments made during ceremonies marking the inaugural flight to YKA.
The Rouge A-319 Airbus arrived from Toronto with 90 people earlier today.
Govenrment Relations for Western Canada Serge Corbiel calls the flight a great addition to the River City.
“The strategic additions of these seasonal flights three times a week to Air Canada’s primary global international hub in Toronto further strengthens the air network from Kamloops and the Thompson Okanagan region.”
Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian says within four and a half hours there is a lot to do.
“Things like the Royal Ontario Museum, things like the Blue Jays, things like the University of Toronto and Dunforth and Dundas and all those tremendous neighbourhoods.”
The trial service runs from June 21ST through to October 9th, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
